As you might recall, Texas Governor Rick Perry sought the Republican Party’s nomination for President. Similarly, of course, President George W. Bush had served as this state’s governor for six years. Certainly, four of the last six presidents had formerly served as governors of their respective states. Evaluate the extent to which service in this office provides good preparation for a future president. Do you think that someone serving as Governor of Texas would be better prepared than someone serving in the same capacity in the other state? Explain why or why not?
