Unit 4 Assignment Instructions Case Study #1: Diabetes Hannah is a 10-year-old girl who has recently been diagnosed with Type 1 Diabetes Mellitus. She is a 4th grade student at Hendricks Elementary School. Prior to her diagnosis, Hannah was very involved in sports and played on the girls’ volleyball team. Her mother is concerned about how the diagnosis will affect Hannah. Case Study #2: Coronary Artery Disease (CAD) Eric is a 47-year-old male who has just been diagnosed with Coronary Artery Disease. He is a construction worker and spends a great deal of time away from his wife and three children. Eric smokes approximately 1 1⁄2 packs of cigarettes a day and enjoys drinking a 6-pack after a long day at work. Case Study #3: Hypertension (HTN) Vicki is a 42-year-old African American woman who was diagnosed with Hypertension a month ago. She has been married to her high school sweetheart for the past 20 years. She is self-employed and runs a successful insurance agency. Her work requires frequent travel and Vicki often has to eat at fast food restaurants for most of her meals. Case Study #4: Pancreatic Cancer Case Study #5: Asthma Tammy is a 17-year-old girl who was just diagnosed with asthma. She is a cheerleader for her high school and is very busy with social events throughout the year. Next year Tammy will attend View University on a cheerleading scholarship. She is very excited, but is a little nervous about living away from home. Lately she has been having trouble controlling her asthma. Case Study #6: Cerebral Vascular Accident (CVA) Jan is a 72-year-old woman who recently suffered a Cerebral Vascular Accident. She suffered damage to the right side of her body and is having difficulty speaking. She is widowed and has no children. She lives by herself in a 2nd floor apartment.
