How would you graph 2x-3y<12
Solution
Without the ability to draw a graph, it is a little difficult to answer this question.
The inequality is bounded by the equation 2x-3y=12.
This is a linear equation with positive slope (goes from NE to SW…Maine to Arizona!)
When x = 0, y= -4, i.e. the boundary line runs through (0,-4).
When y = 0 x = 6, i.e. the boundary line runs through(6,0)
Draw a straight line through those 2 points.
If you look at a couple of points NW of the boundary line, you should be convinced that this is the area where the inequality is satisfied…you should shade this area as the solution.
